When the railway opened in 1990, it had a fleet of purpose built and well appointed coaches but only owned one locomotive, that was the diesel locomotive built to construct the line.
It did not own any steam locomotives of its own and therefore turned to the Romney Hythe and Dymchurch Railway in Kent who loaned locomotives and drivers to the railway to operate it's services in the early years.
Today we have a collection of some of the largest and most powerful 15-inch gauge steam locomotives ever built. These have been specifically designed and built to work on the demanding 9-mile route between Aylsham and Wroxham.
